Protests have turned violent in Spain for a second day after thousands in Barcelona and Madrid demanded the release of rap artist Pablo Hasel, who had barricaded himself at a university.
He has been jailed following a 2018 conviction for insulting the monarchy and state institutions because of his tweets and lyrics.
Hasel’s case has raised public alarm over the prosecution of speech crimes in Spain.
Al Jazeera’s Laura Burdon-Manley reports.
